International cooperation projects

<General support of trainees, foreign students>

Full support starting before the students come to Japan and continuing until after their return to their home country. The Hiroshima International Center (Foundation) makes efforts to support and expand these projects and supports the acceptance of more foreign students.

*Development of the Hiroshima International Club
(establishment of regional organizations and improvement of information networks.).
*Projects of accepting foreign students who studied Japanese language or culture abroad.

*Hiroshima International Club: a club consisting of foreign members who have been involved in one way or other during foreign studies with Hiroshima. Establishment of an information network among these students following their return to their countries helps deepening the friendly relationship between the club members.
The headquarter is established in Hiroshima and regional centers in Peking, Shanghai, Jakarta etc. The Hiroshima. International Center Foundation (temporary name) operates this project.


Research Center for Acid Rain

For the promotion of the countermeasures against acid rain in Chongching in Sichuan Province, Hiroshima and Chongching of Hiroshima Prefecture and Sichuan Province jointly established the Chongching Environmental Research Laboratory and support the operation of the Research Center for Acid Rain.

*Joint studies, actual acceptance of students etc.



International Cooperation for the treatment of radiation victims

The experiences with the medical care for victims of the atomic bomb and the results of radiation injury studies are used to contribute globally to the medical care of people with radiation injuries.

*Acceptance of trainees from disaster areas

*Studies etc.
*Conference for the promotion of international cooperation concerning the medical care of people with radiation injuries.



Cooperation for forest protection

Friendly relationship with Sichuan Province and support of afforestation technologies and a friendly Japan-China relationship related to afforestation. Simultaneously, cooperation and support of protection projects for the tropical rain forest in Sarawak Province of Malaysia closely related to the economy of this prefecture.

*Sichuan Province: acceptance of forestry technology trainees, support of afforestation technologies, friendly Japan-China relationship related to afforestation etc.
*Sarawak Province: projects for the protection of the tropical rain forest (acceptance of trainees etc), exchange of forestry technologies


<Friendly relationship with Sichuan Province>

On September 17 1984 "The Hiroshima Prefecture in Japan and Sichuan Province of the People's Republic of China (Red China) started a friendly relationship. This relationship that tries to realize the 4 principles of love of peace, reciprocal respect of equality, mutual trust and long-term stability and conducts various exchange and cooperation projects, now celebrates its tenth anniversary.
