The Fuchu Municipal Gymnasium ("Wood Arena") |
Fuchu City is famous for its production of high-grade wedding furniture. It started back in the end of Genroku era and since then the production of furniture has developed greatly by introducing new senses and ideas into the traditional techniques. With the techniques we achieved, we have extended our business to the area of house interior decoration and building construction in addition to the furniture production. We continue to create a city noted for its wood industry by building a wooden gymnasium called "Wood Arena" which is very rare throughout the country for being made of plenty wood and a public hall called "Cultupia" on which we also lavished wood. |
The children of today will be the leaders of tommorow. With its abundant resources, the POM(Park of mind) facilities will help nurture individualism and creativity, as well as inspire fresh relationships between parents and children. "POM Fuchu City's Kingdom For Children" was undertaken with such ideas incorporated in the POM concept in 1991 (Heisei 3). The central venue, called Children's Hall was completed in March 1993 (Heisei 5) and then a Children's Square in March 1994 (Heisei 6). Following these, in March 1995 (Heisei 7), "Cherry Banks" and "Waterside Plaza" were also completed. Now everyday we can hear children happily laughing inside the Children's Hall and in the outside park. |

It started when a girl found two big beautlful butterflies in the summer of 1980(Showa 55). They were the national giant purple butterflies with their bright purple wings. This beautiful butterflies attracted local citizens and the next year they established "Protect The Giant Purple butterflies Association". Since then they have been protecting and breeding the butterflies. Now nearly 1,000 larvae are emerging every year from the middle of June to the end of July in a huge protective net; Which is 15 meters square and 6 meters high. Every year on the first Sunday of July, "Gathering to Free Giant Purple Butterflies" is held in this home town of the giant purple butterflies. (Sasakia charonda) |
