Sending Information to the World in Small Packets

On the internet, you can send information instantaneously throughout the world. This is made possible because the internet uses a method of handling information in small portions called packets. For example if you send information equivalent to one page-sized picture, that picture will be divided up into small portions in order to be sent to its destination. The receiver of these small packets will combine them to form the picture based on information that is included in the packets themselves.
