Promulgation of the Imperial Constitution of the Japanese Empire

In the 22nd year of the Meiji Period, the Imperial Constitution of the Japanese Empire was promulgated. To the surprise of Osaka citizens, the Asahi Shimbun in Osaka, sending the full text of the Constitution from Tokyo by telegram, issued an extra edition on the same day, to the surprise of the citizens in Osaka.
