The base paper for "Pressed Flower Telegrams" is bought from the Japan UNICEF Organization. Proceeds are used to aid underprivileged children. Proceeds from 80 of these "Pressed Flower Telegram" base paper sets can be used to immunize one child against 6 common diseases (measles, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, tuberculosis and diphtheria). Furthermore, this clear profit is used for various activities (such as providing public health care, sanitary drinking water, nutrition, education, and emergency assistance) to protect the lives of children around the world. The president of NTT received a thank you letter from UNICEF headquarters out of appreciation for NTT's purchase of over 100 million of these sets in 1994.
