The Digital Business Phone [Alpha] Hybrid system could incorporate different types of equipment such as digital business phones, single-unit telephone sets, cordless telephones, automatic answering telephone sets, and facsimile machines as well. The system could accommodate 48 telephone lines and 160 extensions and provided a variety of functions. The built-in LCR (least-cost routing) function allowed outgoing toll calls to be routed over the lines automatically selected as being available at the lowest cost at that particular time. It also supported the terminal portability feature which, after removing a business phone set and connecting it to a different connector, allowed the same extension number to be used without updating it. The system was also capable of making up a personal computer communications network.
