On November 12, 1992, NTT signs a contract for work related to a one-million line telephone expansion project in Thailand with TT&T, the Thai organization having authority for the project. It is NTT's first venture into a large-scale overseas telecommunications project. This project covers the entire area of Thailand excluding the capital, Bangkok, and calls for the construction of one million lines (switching capacity) by 1997, to be operated after completion by TOT,the Thai telephone company.
