On January 1, 1986 (Showa 61), the Japan Flower Telecommunications and Delivery Organization (JFTD) was entrusted to undertake telegraph deliveries and began providing a flower telegram service. The service delivered a bunch of flowers together with the telegram. To use the service, the customer writes a telegram (paid for by JFTD) ordering a bunch of flowers as well as the congratulatory or condolence telegram. A flower shop belonging to JFTD then delivers the telegram and flowers to the recipient. Five different types of flower telegram are available, priced from 3000 yen.
