Research at the Communications Department into facsimile telegraph started around 1942 and was introduced between Tokyo and Osaka on December 22nd 1946(Showa 21). As for the photo-telegraph, facsimile telegraph can send kanji, numbers, diagrams, sketches, and similar content directly. Unlike the photo-telegraph which is received onto photographic paper that must then be developed, facsimile telegraph has a very simple method of reception whereby the image of the text and drawings appears directly on the reception paper.
