Ministry of Education National Laboratory for High Energy Physics (KEK), Ministry of Education National Center for Science Information Systems, Kyoto University, University of Tsukuba, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Nagoya University, Niigata University, Hiroshima institute of Technology, Hiroshima University, The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research
Outline
We will test high-speed computer communications with a user network interface of 156Mb/s to investigate hunge-volume data transmission, high-speed LAN-to-LAN communications etc. between KEK and the high-energy physics research facilities of the other universities.
We will also evaluate and confirm ATM technology as next stage communication method from several point of views to establish an environment for high-speed access to the large-volume experimental data stored at KEK from the high-energy physics research facilities of the other universities and to support wide-area, distributed, large-scale collaborative environment.
