Structure
(How to Organize the PMC Service Experiment)

This illustrates the system configuration of PMC service experiments at the Musashino R & D center. We have set up about 40 cell stations, which cover the entire area of the Musashino R & D Center. Intelligent network equipment on the premises accommodates these cell stations with I' interface. The I' interface has additional functions not included in the I interface. These functions are location information registration of PHS terminals and terminal authentication. The intelligent network equipment, which is similar to the IN (intelligent network) of the public network, consists of a switch and several workstations (WSs). The WSs handle call and service control. A PABX at the R & D center accommodates the intelligent network equipment with I interface. This equipment supports many kinds of new services by processing location information concerning which PHS terminal relates to which base station.

We also constructed a PMC service experiment environment using a communication satellite outside of the experiment room.
