To improve the efficiency of telegraph business operations, the night-time delivery of telegrams was reviewed as follows in 1985 (Showa 60). Night-time delivery was restricted to emergency fixed-text telegrams. The hours that attracted the night-time delivery charge (telegrams received and delivered between 9 PM and 8AM) were extended by two hours to 7 PM to 8 AM. Also, the night-time delivery charge was raised to 3000 yen per telegram (previously 1000 yen). However, night-time delivery of special telegrams, emergency telegrams, and wireless telegrams to ships continued as before. (Night-time delivery charge not required.) | ||
