The dual call service was developed in response to customer requests to add a feature to the Pocket Bell to distinguish between normal calls and emergency calls or between calls from the company and calls from home. The service was introduced nationwide on September 28, 1982 (Showa 57). An additional charge of 250 yen per subscriber per month is made on top of the standard Pocket Bell usage charge.
