As early color television broadcasts only lasted about one hour per day, and because of the high cost of color TV receivers, the spread of color television was slow. To promote the spread of color television broadcasting, the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation started work on upgrading the microwave circuits required to relay color television signals in 1962 (Showa 37). The microwave network was completed in 1966 (Showa 41) and covered almost the entire country. This enabled color television to be broadcast nationwide. | ||
