Patricia McShane & Erik Adigard

Erik Adigard and Patricia McShane have collaborated as M.A.D. for eight years. Their studio, in Sausalito, California, is widely recognized as being at the forefront of contemporary graphic design. Adigard is a regular contributor to the opening pages of Wired and, with McShane, has produced design and illustration for clients including Adobe, Apple, Bantam Doubleday, HarperCollins, Lotus, Microsoft, RayGun, TNT, and Vogue.

Erik Adigard was born in the Congo, educated in France, and attended the University of Censier in Paris where he studied theories of communication.After arriving in America, he graduated from California College of Arts and Crafts and exhibited as a painter before finding his way into the electronic arts.

Patricia McShane was born in San Francisco, studied Fine Art at San Francisco State University and Graphic Design at the California College of Arts and Crafts, and worked as a fashion and jewelry designer prior to entering graphic design. Her work has appeared in exhibits and publications in North America, Europe and Japan.

About the Work:
FUNNEL (www.funnel.com) is conceived as a 3virtual sandbox2 for experimental art and graphic design utilizing the web technology. This kinetic website project is a collaboration between writers programmers designers and artists as we funnel to the year 2000. VI1R1US as this edition of Funnel's digital display is called tackles the risky theme of contagion in the modern world,conceived and designed by: Erik Adigard「 Patricia McShane. Additional contributions by Laurance Arcadias Lindsay Gravette and Ken Coupland.
