The Dogs of War

Notes: I liked this line so much that I wrote a song for it, which I sing every Sunday at 4 pm at Rascals Tavern in Eugene (211 Washington). It goes like this:

VERSE
  • A red haze of blood
  • hangs over our land
  • crying for justice
  • yeah, strike up the band

  • there's store clerks in camo
  • and men in fatigues
  • buying up ammo
  • and hiding in trees

    CHORUS

  • And I hope that you understand it
  • and I hope that you know the score
  • they don't go quietly back to their kennels
  • when you loose the dogs of war.

    VERSE

  • They're joining militias
  • and forming up ranks
  • training in pickups
  • and dreaming of tanks

  • so where is the danger?
  • and what's the occasion?
  • Is there an imminent threat
  • of Canadian invasion?

    CHORUS

    VERSE

  • So lock up your daughters
  • and pay me some heed
  • if blood's to be spilt soon
  • it's us that'll bleed.

    CHORUS

  • And I pray that you understand it
  • And I pray that you know the score
  • They don't go quietly back to their kennels
  • When you loose the dogs of war
