In the opinion of the authors of the paper, there is a large deficiency of various uses in Herrenhausen. Not
only the solid gastronomic premises are missing but also the possibilities for displays, festivities, theatre as
substitute for the open air theatre in bad weather, for a constant display of the history of the mansions gardens,
as well as for other events in leisure time. The goal of the term paper is to develop alternatives for the total
work with a long-term perspective, which are still to be acceptable in hundred years and are to be
acknowledged as a permanent solution. The present individual measure should be tried to realise as part of
the whole project.
The results of the term paper offer inspirations to two alternatives to the project:
1.) The Great Garden is to be managed as an outdoor museum in the future. The missing historic architectural
elements will faithfully be reconstructed in their outer appearance in all details on the basis of archival
finings. The cabinets and the grotto is to be rebuilt in the Baroque style, the Palace in the Baroque or classical
style. The interior of the Palace receives a new concept ( possibly for gastronomy, displays, theatres, concerts
and celebrations ).
2.) New building with the modern design on the former Palace square. In order to become the drafts of design,
which is to be acknowledged as a long-term solution by the majority, an international competition, including
free artists and architect, could possibly be organised.
