Here is some technical help on how to send images to the Brain Opera:

What to send

We are asking for image and animation files of no more than 1000k (one megabyte) in size. We can accept just about any file format, including .gif, .jpeg, .pict, .tiff, .mpeg, .avi, and .fli. These should be saved to your local disk or directory, and named with the appropriate suffix for the kind of file format it is.

Image and animation file formats vary according to the kind of computer you have. We can convert most common file formats for use in the Brain Opera, but your material will come across best if you take some care in processing it.

How to send an image or animation file

To contribute images to the Brain Opera, we're asking you to send us an image file that you have made and have stored locally in your computer (or on your computer account, if you're on a networked system).

To send your file, you can either type the path name and file name into the text box, or you can click on the browse button, which will allow you to select a file to send from your local directories. After you specify a file in either of these ways (only one at a time!) click the "SEND" button. Your file will then be sent to us, over the Net.

While your file is uploading to us, you might want to refrain from clicking around in your browser; rumor has it that this might cause it some distress. There is also a built-in upload time limit of two minutes, so you won't be locked in for too long! (This is also a limitation; please note that the system may time out if you're trying to send a very large file from a modem.

Alternately, you can do an anonymous ftp to brainop.media.mit.edu, and put your image file into the directory entitled "images."

If you run into any glitches or have questions, let us know.

You can send images from here, or from the main image send page.
