THE UNIVERSITY OF MAINE

The University of Maine now has more than 10,000 students. As far as education is concerned, the expansion and diversification policy of the education channels expresses itself on one hand by the reinforcement of the second cycle, licenses and masters degrees, on the other hand by the establishment of new technical and professional courses: I.U.T. and I.U.P. with 2 engineering colleges.

The University of Maine is also to be considered a partner in local and regional development, rooted in its social, cultural and economic environment. It actively participates in the establishment of a link between the world of higher education and research and that of industry and economics.

ENSIM : NATIONAL HIGHER ENGINEERING COLLEGE OF LE MANS

In 1995, the University of Maine opened a National Higher College for Detection and Measurement with the objective of training engineers in the field of detection, processing, storage and transmission of industrial data and measurements.


ISMANS : LE MANS HIGHER INSTITUTE FOR MATERIALS

Training of engineers and development of products in the triangle :

* understanding of materials

* project management

* computer design


THE GROUP ESCRA-ISCAM

The Institute for Commercial Promotion of Automobiles (or education organisation), which is unique in Europe, was created by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Le Mans and offers three specific training courses for management staff on several levels in the automobile industry:

- the Higher Institute for Automobile Trade of Le Mans (I.S.C.A.M.) trains management staff for administration and commercialisation of automobiles in Europe, Asia and North America,

- the Higher College for Automobile Trade and Repair (E.S.C.R.A.) trains management staff for automobile distribution networks in France and Europe,

- the Preparatory School for Automobile Trade and Repair (E.P.C.R.A.) trains assistant management staff for sales and after-sales-service in the automobile sector.


THE COLLEGES OF LE MANS

offer a take-up capacity of approximately 10,000 students in the general or technical education channels.

Technical colleges

LE MANS SUD B.E.P. and BAC+: vehicle maintenance, plastics and composites, tools, office automation, sales
TOUCHARD C.A.P.-B.E.P. and BAC Pro: accounting, mechanical production, definition of industrial products.

Since 1992, a section for " Race mechanics " has been established in the Professional College of Le Mans, ensuring maintenance of formula CAMPUS within the framework of a partnership of ELF and RENAULT.
