Japan Broadcasting Corp.,more commonly referred to as" NHK", is
proud to announce that its Satellite Channel DBS-2 will broadcast,
with an inovative and ambitious program, a 4-hour Cyberland
Christmas program live at
11pm (JST) on December 25, 1994.
SIM TV 2 - GLOBAL CHRISTMAS will invite its audiences to a fascinating
world tour on
Christmas Day. It will make the usual one-way, dull TV set in their
living room into
a spectacular one by utilizing interactive facilities and technologies;
these technologies
include the INTERNET, a blueprint of the information superhighway.
Still more, good
news for those who still believe in Santa Claus! For only those who
have been good this year,
not to mention, will have a chance to receive a wonderful gift from
Virtual Santa who will
be keeping himself busy with requests in Cyberland
THE SOLUTION FOR A BRAVE NEW WORLD.....COMMUNICATION
The program will deal with prospects of the latest technologies,
however, the
NHK's SIM TV 2 project team feel strongly that the message remains
very basic and simple - communication. It is all we need and all we
seek. Christmas has always been a time of communication, and it will
remain the same. And, notorious words such as Mutimedia, or Digital
Revolution is simply a new form of communication.
FROM SNAIL MAIL TO E-MAIL
Thanks to daily advancing technology, we are now able to enjoy a whole new
arena of communication.The Internet enables instant messages to travel
around the
world to family or friends in an instant.The Internet with the latest
software allows us to send images, sounds instead of strings of letters.
SIM TV2 will be gathering Christmas cards from all over the world, as a
part of the program. We will then show these cards on air, possibly send
them over to your friends, and we will turn all of the cards
into a colaborative grand SIM TV christmas card and send it back to you, so that
you can tell your friends kids, and later on your grandchildren that you
were part of this monumental program back in 1994.
So join us in a global Christmas. Any form is welcome so just write in.

Eventually other audiences will add thier work to yours so that
there will be a coraboration work.
INTERNET SURF COMPETITION(Surf the internet)
The world's first INTERNET-SURF competition on the air. Those who
believe themselves
to be master of cyberwaves can demonstrate their skills. Who will be the
first champion?
Well, let's see. The participants will be students from MIT and Japanese
universities.
FIELD OF CHRISTMAS
Video phones will catch a glimpse of "what is going on" in the streets on
this Holy Night.

The Christmas Message is not reserved only for the Pope. Your favorite
