[Thread Next] Japan Configuration
Folks - Either somebody changed something on japan.park.org or it wasn't working in the first place. The basic problem was that a single bin was declared: /cp/cgi-bin That had only the Japan tree. Missing were all the top level things like imagemap. That means nobody could make it past the first ismap file. :<< As a temporary fix, I did the two following steps: iwe[40]# cp ~expo96/park/cgi-bin/[a-z]* /cp/cgi-bin iwe[41]# cp ~expo96/park/cgi-bin/AT* /cp/cgi-bin I also created a link from /cp/htdocs/bin to /cp/cgi-bin . Somebody did something *VERY* strange on the /Images directory under the htdocs. All the correct data was there, but under /Images/Images/... The /Images directory had /UnitedStates and /Thailand underneath it. Signs were buried under Flags, etc..., etc... Was somebody doing some very strange manual copy? If you do copies of the data, please make sure you move my *entire* tree into place. Failure to do that leaves you a very strong risk of my writing over everything you do when the next mirror comes sweeping through. I also don't believe the redirect code is working, though it is published in the active version of bandwidth.cgi on park.org. When I come in via lynx from Shinoda's machine, I still end up in park.org. That is a real good thing since things were *so* screwed up on japan.park.org. On the other hand, I did notice 578 attempted accesses to bandwidth.cgi, (not a one one appearing to make it past the imagemap problem). I commented out the redirect code until we feel that this is a solid configuration. Brad and Shinoda ... could you please send me private mail explaining what was happening? Shinoda-san -- have you been testing the code as it comes into japan.park.org to make sure we have an active configuration that actually works? We need your help to make this happen correctly. I'm very anxious to get all four of our central park servers on-line next week. We've made very good progress and the servers are starting to converge on similar solutions, but we are going to have to work hard next week if we are to have a professional server that we can all be proud of. Regards, Carl
