Glass Apples

Glass Apples [chomphuu]

[Picture of Glass Apples]

These pear-shaped fruits have a translucent, shiny outside layer that gives them their common English name. Inside is a peculiar cottony pulp that surrounds a big seed. The outside layer's flesh is crisp and juicy, with a slightly astringent taste that is especially refreshing when the fruit is served cold.
