EINAR HENRIKSEN
Einar Henriksen (1921-1995)
was born in Evje, Setesdal, Norway. At 15 he ´ran away to sea´ aboard the full-rigged sailing ship "Soerlandet" where he was trained for the Norwegian Merchant Marine. In addition to his years of sailing the world`s seas he has worked as a lumberjack, an ambulance driver, a troubleshoother on hydroelectric-lines, as a bartender, and bouncher, M.P. and drill instructor, as steel worker, truck driver, boatbuilder and bank courier. Came back to Norway from St. Louis with his wife Joan Felicia Henriksen. Became a security guard at Phillips Petroleum Co. Norway. His poems have appeared in Norway and in the U.S.A, where he lived for many years. "Ballad of the Roustabout and other songs of the North Sea" was published in 1980 by Ankh. Norway. In 1989 he received "Golden Poet Award" in Washington D.C.
