"What most fascinates me is the various sounds of ecosystems.
This is what I felt when I was recording."
Winter 1996

Kawasaki, a sound designer, has been working on the creation of sound environments. Currently he is working as a program production director at St. Giga, and is also active in new media fields such as CD-ROM production. He hears with his whole body. We are pleased to introduce sound works based on recordings he took on Yakushima Island.

"What most fascinates me is the sound of ecosystems, and not just the Yakushima cedars.
Yakushima Island includes a range of climates, from subtropical to subarctic. Accordingly the ecosystems differ with the changing climates.
I actually felt this, the change in ecosystems, when I was recording."
