July 1 (The Day Before the Race)
This is the first international cross country rally held by a Japanese sponsor. It is a 10-day rally covering 5000 km going all around Mongolia. This event was finally realized as a result of negotiations by the SSER, a rally organizing committee, based in Matsuyama with the Mongolian Olympic Committee and Ministry of Environment. The motorcycle division is made up of 80 participants, all amateur riders (of which 5 are women riders, a married couple, and 4 Mongolians).The rally course was announced 2 days before and a detailed map with instructions was distributed to the participants.

The Gobi Desert and the Hangai Mountains are the most difficult spots of the course. The riders must run on the livelihood road called a PISTE. These roads are used by people everyday. The rider who overcomes the trouble awaiting him or her will safety return to the starting point, UlaanBataar.
