Arrow leaf violet blooms in the the spring in acid black sand locations. The individual pictured is quite unusual in that it has white hairs on its lateral petals: plants often are widely variable in the wild. The link below is to wetlands, but this plant may be found in mesic prairie or in open savanna locations as well.
