You're invited to join us for the most exciting winter celebration in North America! Each February, Canadians gather in their National Capital to take part in Winterlude festivities and celebrate, together, their northern heritage. They come, with their families and friends, from all parts of the country to enjoy the Canadian winter at its best. They come to marvel at Canadian talent in The Great Canadian Ice Breaker, to wander through a magical display of ice sculptures in Confederation Park, or to try out their blades on the world's longest skateway.
Winterlude has something for everyone. Children will delight in the chance to travel through time in a unique winter theme park. Families can choose from a myriad of free shows and special activities on the Rideau Canal and elsewhere in the Capital Region. Winter sport fanatics can ski and skate to their heart's content in competitive high-profile sporting events, and recreational athletes can join in the fun at their own leisurely pace. And for those who return each year, exciting new activities, such as a barrel jumping competition and a closing parade, are sure to please.
The National Capital Commission works very closely with a great many collaborators and sponsors to create this spectacular celebration. The NCC wishes to acknowledge the valuable contribution of the City of Ottawa, the City of Hull, RMOC, OC Transpo, the Société de transport de l'Outaouais (collaborators) and the Royal Bank, Cantel, the Ontario Lottery Corporation, General Motors of Canada Limited, AST Computer, and Air Canada (sponsors).
So what are you waiting for? Winter is much more than just clearing the driveway and warming frosty fingers and toes. In Canada's Capital, winter is a celebration -- and you're invited! Bring your friends. Bring your family. Start making plans to join us for North America's greatest winter festival. See you in the Capital!
