ĦĦĦĦMt. T'aebaeksan consists of 1,567 meter-high Changgunbong Peak and 1,546 meter-high Munsubong Peak. It is one of Korea's three sacred mountains. On its summit are Ch'onjedan Altar where religious services were held in the past, a monumental pavilion dedicated to two Kings(Tanjong and Youngjong) of the Choson Dynasty.
In the Tanggol Valley, one may see Tangunsongjon, a sacred shrine dedicated to Tangun, legendary founder of Korea. There are also many temples such as Manggyongsa, Paektansa, Yuilsa and Mandoksa on the mountain.
Near the Mt. T'aebaeksan Provincial Park is Komyongso Pond, the source of the Han-gang River. And in T'aebaek City, one may visit
Hwangji Pond which is said to be a source of the Naktonggang River.
