ĦĦĦĦA Place Where Centuries of National Spirit and Pride Flows
The   National  Center   for   Korean   Traditional  Performing   Arts   is   a 
governmental  office  with an  incredible  history  of  1600  years not  known 
anywhere else in the world.

ĦĦĦĦA nation  of people who  love music and  dance, instituitionalized music  came 
into being  as early as the  4th century leading eventually  to the Chosun era 
where a 1750 member music instituition was housed by the court.

Beginning with the feigning Chosun era and the  Independence of 8.15 to the 
Korean War, the arts tradition was nearly obliterated.

Through  the strength  of 16  traditional  musicians and  their  vision for  the 
preservation of Korean music, the NCKTPA,  as you know it today, was born 
in 1951.		




In  this way  and in  this institute,  the tradition  of Korean  music continues 
through preservation, development,  education, concerts, new compositions, and 
research.
