Ch'ungnyolsa Shrine |
กกกก Designated Historical Site No.189, Chungnyolsa is a shrine dedicated to
the great war hero, General Im Kyong-op who lived during the reign of
King Injo of the Choson Dynasty.
It was built in 1726, the 2nd year of
the reign of King Yongjo. King Yongjo endowed the shrine with
the name of Chungnyolsa and began sending government officials to conduct
memorial services in Im Kyong-op's honour every spring and fall.
In 1791, King Chongjo did a writing for a monument which was set at
this shrine.
The shrine was declared a "sacred place" in 1978.
The shrine contains the Chunggnyolsa monument, the Chungnyolsowonji and
General Im's personal effects.
3.5 km from Chungnyolsa Shrine is the
grave site of General Im Kyong-op which was designated Ch'ungch'ongbuk-
do Monument No.67.
