Kochi Citizens'Local Development Group
Accepting "jump in" applicants each year. Costumes are lent out for free, while you must bring your own naruko clacker. The group will gather at 4 o'clock on August 10 & 11 in the Otemae Elementary School Athletic Ground. Practice until 17:30, followed by dancing at Otesuji, Obiyamachi and Central Park dance stages -- it's ok to only do part of it. Participation in Yosakoi Soran
A Hokkaido university student, Gaku Hasegawa came to Kochi and was moved by Yosakoi. He actualized his dream in 1992 in Sapporo with the 1st Annual Yosakoi Soran Festival. This year's festival was held in grand style June 7 - 9. There is much exchange between Kochi's Yosakoi team and Hokkaido's Yosakoi Soran team. Participation in Japan Week
The Sixth Annual America Japan Week was held in Boston, Massachusetts from May 28, 1996.
On the first day, the so-called Kochi Day, a Kochi dance team put on a dynamic performance of Yosakoi rythm. MIT students also joined in the exchange of friendship. Participation in Hawaii's Honolulu Festival
The 1st Annual Honolulu Festival was held in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 24 - 26, 1995.
Held to further the mutual understanding of history and culture between Japan and Hawaii, Yosakoi teams (over 300 participants!) from Kochi, Hokkaido and US-Japan Friendship Groups performed. From the stage to the crowd, everyone was included. This year's March festival was also attended.
