Mitsuhiro Takemura FOUNDING DIRECTOR
Mitsuhiro Takemura
Graduate from Nihon University in the Faculty of Arts, completed degree at the Research Centre of Arts at Nihon University. With experience as a member of the Media Alliance at New York City and a full-time lecturer at the Faculty of Arts at the Nihon University, he presently works as assistant professor and head of the library at the Kyoto University of Arts and Design. Also, Founding Director of Research Center for Media Aesthetics. His major focus is in postmodern aesthetics in an electronic media environment. He also works in introducing the culture of media images, media art and virtual reality to Japan. He has initiated many projects in the digitization of traditional Japanese aesthetics, and he has also built a large overseas network of centres with similar goals. He is a member of the National Land Agency Council as well as the Good Design Selection Committee for the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, and he has considerable experience as a consultant for government policy in multimedia-related issues.


Joichi Ito CHIEF RESEARCHER
Joichi Ito
Majored in Computer Science at the University of Chicago and at Tafts University in California. He represented Japan at the Internet World Expo as the technical director, and is well-known as an entrepreneur in networking models. He has gained the support of many students in the field of "digital culture". He is president of both ECCO SYS and of PSI JAPAN.

Shinichi Ohara
Media Producer. Vice-Chair of the Research Centre for Information Design. He has been in charge of the planning and development of large-scale media images such as the Shibuya 109 FORUM VISION, the Roppongi Seishido Vision, and one at the terminal of the Shin-Chitose Airport. He was the head of a seminar on nurturing talent in multimedia and is a member of councils in multimedia education.


Toru Yuki ASSOCIATE RESEARCHER
Toru Yuki
President of Image. Having majored as a professional musician at university, he has taken part in various recordings and concerts. He has worked for many years training other young musicians at the Yamaha Institution of Music. He has organized numerous events and productions both in music and in images. As the president of Image, a computer graphics company which he established in 1990, he has worked in the production of television commercials, high-vision images, simulation images and multimedia.

Tsuyoshi Takashiro
Tsuyoshi Takashiro
Creator of Hypermedia, President of "Future Pirates". Graduate of the Nihon University in Arts. He has represented Japan as a Contents Creator, and has acted as a frontrunner in electronic games such as MTV and TVCF. He has participated in a wide range of activities including work on images both in Japan and overseas, "Digital Contents" projects, as well as "Franky On-Line", an on-line service for businesses about the on-line services in the next generation.


Asako Yonezawa STANDING RESEARCHER
Asako Yonezawa
Student of Media at the University of Canberra in Australia, Graduate of the Nihon University in Arts, specializing in photography. Post-Graduate degree at Nihon University in film and art. After her thesis on the constructed photos of Cindy Sharman, she began her research on the changing structures of digital photography. She is in charge of the Digital Japanesque project and is a standing member of the Research Centre for Media Aesthetics.

Derrick de Kerckhove
Professor at the University of Toronto, Director of the McLuhan Program. Continuing Marshall McLuhan's culture and technology projects, he has gained high reknown for his ideas on the relationship between electronic media society and culture both in Europe and Canada. In his recent book "The Skin of Culture", he explains the dynamic relationship between the arts, business, culture and electronic media.
