| This project entailed building a complex occupied by stores, offices and apartments under unfavorable conditions -- at an irregularly shaped site adjacent to two railway systems (a railroad under private management and subway system). The architect first reserved a rectangular lot with a width of 21 meters and a depth of 7 meters for a dwelling space, and then provided two buffer zones, a brise soleil of fair-faced concrete on the east side (the facade side facing a road) and 55 PC piles placed in a line on the site's south boundary (facing the railways), in order to create expressions corresponding to the scales of the road and railways. |
